Speedtrap Ride Tuesday July 6th recap

Favorable weather brought thirty-four cyclists to Elmore last night for the Speedtrap Ride.

Scott Lang led the Ghost Pepper Riders. He reported a riding average of 22.8 mph.

Bob Kayden’s Cayenne Pepper Riders stayed right with the Ghost Pepper Riders almost the entire ride. However, with only three miles to go, the Cayenne Pepper Riders fell off and came in with a 22.5 mph average. Way to go Bob! Will the Cayenne Pepper Riders cease to exist!!!!????

Doug Kilpatrick led the Habanero Riders to a 21.0 mph average. Will Doug’s group become the NEW Cayenne Pepper Riders!!!!????

Todd Pollock reported nine riders in the Jalapeno group. They rode to a 16.9 mph average.

Claude Watkins and I were the only Sweet Pepper Riders. We rode at a casual pace 13 – 14 mph.

There were two new riders this week. Both rode in the Jalapeno group. And both are pictured: Kathy Dandurand(pink top)and Joanne Tiffney(pink-red-blue-white striped top). Welcome to the Speedtrap Ride!

Please join us next Tuesday, July 13th, for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride. The Speedtrap Ride is a joint venture of TAB and the Flatlanders, and is a great way to meet riders from the club you DO NOT belong to.

Come ride some quiet country roads and meet some great people,  and see why the Speedtrap Ride is the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County.  Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!

Bob Kayden will lead the Cayenne Pepper Riders. He expects to average

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 29th recap

Twenty-nine cyclists came to Elmore last night for the Speedtrap Ride. However, there was a threat of rain just before ride time, and there was rain all around us. At least two riders left Elmore before even getting on their bikes. Just at 6:30 as riders rolled out, there began a light rain, but not too bad,  but at least one ride came back shortly after starting out. My two riding companions and I decided to wait ten minutes to see if the rain continued. Those two riders decided not to ride, put their bikes away, and went home. I decided not to go out alone.  In Elmore, within a short time, the rain came down harder, with darker skies, and several bolts of lightning and thunder that appeared to be very close. It looked like dangerous and very unpleasant riding conditions.

However, when the four riding groups returned to Elmore, most said they encountered about five miles of nasty weather, including hail, but after that the ride wasn’t bad. Most riders returned to Elmore telling what a great ride it was!

Looks like conditions out on the road were better than in Elmore!

Deb Lohr (substituting for the vacationing Scott Lang) led the Ghost Pepper Riders and returned with a 21.5 mph average.

Bob Kayden led the Cayenne Pepper Riders with a 20.8 mph average.

Doug Kilpatrick and his Habanero Riders  reported a 20.2 mph average.

Todd Pollock led the Jalapeno Riders with 17.3 mph average.

Next Tuesday, July 6th, we ride the Speedtrap route in reverse. Sign-in begins in front of the bike shop at 6:00 pm. I hope to see you then!
