The TAB Board of Directors voted and the majority decision is to suspend TAB group rides until the end of June. At that time, the board will again meet to determine club action going forward.

While riding in June remember to follow and exhibit the safe guidelines and recommendations by the State of Ohio and the CDC.

Please maintain social distancing, wear a mask to protect yourself and reduce the spread of Coronavirus Covid-19.

TAB 2020 Membership Extension & New Member Offer

Obviously, most of the benefit of your TAB membership is built around group riding and the associated socializing, both of which are currently risky. As a result, the TAB board has decided to extend the membership of all active members an additional year at no cost to you. For example, if your membership was due to expire January 31, 2021, it now will expire January 31, 2022. Considering the uncertainty of this riding season, we want to help ensure your membership in TAB is not diminished due to the virus.

To check your membership status go to www.toledoareabicyclists.org and click on the Membership link.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any decisions made by the TAB board. If you have any questions about this, contact Membership Director Rick Rump at tab.cycling@bex.net

A Great Time to Join or Rejoin TAB

TAB has been promoting group cycling in northwest Ohio for about 40 years, but our group rides are on a temporary hiatus, as we wait for a time when the risk of riding as a group is at a safer level. We soon hope to be able to resume our TAB rides in some fashion. In the interim, this seemed like an opportune time to make you aware of a special membership offer.

    Two for One Membership Offer

For whatever reason, you chose not to renew your membership or to join TAB. We’d like you to now join us as club members. To provide some encouragement, until June 30, we are offering you the opportunity to receive two years of TAB membership for the price of one year. In effect, $20 gets you a two-year individual membership and $30 provides you with a two-year family membership.

To join, go to www.toledoareabicyclists.org and click on the Membership link. We hope you will join us.

If you have any questions, please contact Membership Director Rick Rump at tab.cycling@bex.net. Be cautious and stay safe as you ride our roads.

Practice Social Distancing While Cycling With the conflicting advice of what you should and shouldn’t be doing while exercising outdoors under shelter-in-place orders, doing the right thing can be confusing for cyclists. While the CDC recommends staying six feet away from others when you head outdoors, there has been talk within the cycling community that more distance is needed because of the higher rate of speed, resulting in an increased likelihood that air particles can be spread to others.

The 11th Annual Toledo Ride of Silence will be a virtual event with a program live-streamed at 6:45pm to remember those injured or killed while cycling on the public roadways. While we will not gather as planned due to the impacts of COVID-19, we encourage TAB membership to ride alone or with family on a route of your choosing!

TAB Covid-19 Update for May 2020

All May 2020 TAB Group Riding is cancelled.

Unfortunately, TAB cannot launch our Club Group Riding Season like we would all want. We cannot gather at this time.

As the soon as we can safely gather and not be in harm’s way of the disease, and not contribute to its spread, we will resume our ride season together.

The Board will keep you informed as we see the situation change and hopefully change for the better.

We must stand firm in our commitment to stop the Pandemic.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

    **MARR COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT**

The current situation has affected us all and it has been a challenging spring for everyone. The COVID-19 pandemic brings with it the uncertainty of what to expect this summer. While MARR is still several months out, the planners of the event had to make some very difficult decisions now.

We want to bring our members and the bicycling community the best possible experience. With the health and safety of the riders and our generous volunteers in mind, your MARR team and the TAB board of directors have decided to cancel MARR 2020, previously scheduled for August 8.

If you’ve already registered, your fees will be returned to you.

We appreciate your understanding and support while safely waiting to resume to a time when we can all be together. Watch for news and updates on our website and our Face Book pages.

Our best wishes to you and your families. Stay healthy.

    -Nancy Beeman, MARR Chair

This virus situation is a stark contrast to just a month ago when we held what would be the final Winter Warrior Challenge ride of the season. I am really missing the comraderie and adventures. And the prize drawings. Let's face it, it was really cool to win a pint glass with the blue bearded face of one of my favorite dudes on it. Speaking of Justin, he and I are offering up a challenge to you all with a weekly prize drawing. We want to encourage folks to ride safely, avoiding COVID-19, and help to avoid the COVID-19 pound weight gain. Each Friday I'll post the challenge of the week. Complete the challenge and take a selfie as proof (rules below). Winner will be announced on the following Sunday morning.

For the folks who are sheltering in place or self-isolating, indoor rides count too. Take a selfie on your trainer wearing a mask and helmet.

The first challenge is predictable: Ride to a bike shop. The more bike shops you visit, the more entries you earn. Justin has some Fabric goodies as the first weekly prize.

    Here are the rules:

    1. Ride alone or with a housemate.

    2. Take a selfie at one or more of the landmarks for the week.

    3. You must be wearing a mask or other face covering with your bike and the landmark in the background.

    4. Each selfie at an additional landmark counts as an additional entry for the week.

    5. Share publicly to Facebook or Instagram with #ridesafe419. If not on social media, send your selfie to ridesafe419@gmail.com.

    6. Winner will be drawn on the following Sunday morning.

Please share with friends or anyone you know who is not on social media. Ride safe, ride alone while riding together, and always have fun!

You can earn additional entries if there is something notable about your ride (like riding in the rain or at night) or by paying it forward by purchasing a gift card or donating a prize for the following week. Hooking us up with local businesses that would like to participate gets you an entry as well.

Please share with friends or anyone you know who is not on social media. Ride safe, ride alone while riding together, and always have fun!
