Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 1st recap

Thirty-two cyclists enjoyed the Speedtrap Ride last night. There was a slight headwind on most of the return trip to Elmore, but it didn’t seem to be an issue with anyone.

Scott Lang led the Ghost Pepper Riders and reported a 22.7 mph average.

Bob Kayden with his Cayenne Pepper Riders rode at a 21.4 mph average.

Doug Kilpatrick reported an average of 20.5 mph for his Habanero Riders.

The Jalapeno Riders, again led by Todd Pollock, rode at 18 mph.

Claude Watkins, Rich Smith, and I formed the Sweet Pepper Riders and rode at a  casual  14.16 mph, while Becky Kayden and friend Audrey Schnabel rode down the North Coast Inland Trail and back!

New this week to the Speedtrap Ride is Greg Hill. He is pictured in a blue shirt and an orange water bottle. Also pictured is Jake Morrison with his new(last week) white Cannondale bike with pink bar tape. Also new last week was Audrey Schnabel(friend of Becky Kayden). She is pictured in the gray shirt. Welcome to all new riders(and bikes)!

After the ride, several stayed for a hot dog roast with side dishes brought by those attending. They not only enjoyed food, but also music and good conversation.

Please join us next Tuesday, June 8th, for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride. Sign-in begins at 6:00, and we roll out at 6:30 pm. I hope to see you then!

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 1st

The Speedtrap Ride, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, will once again take place tomorrow, Tuesday, June 1st. Riders will sign in in front if Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore and roll out promptly at 6:30 pm.

Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders. If you ride with his group, expect to average 22 – 23+ mph. Are you ready for the challenge?!!!!

Bob Kayden will lead the Cayenne Pepper Riders at a slightly slower pace,

     21 +/- mph.

Doug Kilpatrick will lead out the Habanero Riders and average 19 – 20 mph.

The Jalapeno Riders will average 16 – 17 mph. Hopefully I’ll be ready to join the group.

The Sweet Pepper Riders will consist of those who would like to ride a shorter distance at a casual pace.

The weather looks good for riding. The temperature at ride time is predicted to be in the mid 70s with ESE winds at 5 mph. There is essentially no chance of rain.

A hot dog roast in front of the bike shop is planned for after the ride. If you plan to stay for food, drink,  and good conversation, please bring a side dish to share. Hot dogs and buns will be provided, but additional hot dogs and buns will probably be needed.

Why not come out to Elmore for something different! From many parts of Northwest Ohio, Elmore is no farther than Whitehouse! Sign-in begins at 6:00 pm. I hope to see you then.

Temperatures at ride time will be in the upper 80s, with little chance of rain. There will be a SW wind of 15 mph, but it should make most of the return ride to Elmore enjoyable.
