This Saturday TAB's Meandering Group will depart Whitehouse (across from CycleWerks) at 8:00am. Roger and I both thought a trip up to Secor Park was in order. Route is ~33miles for an overall ride average 13-15mph, but please remember we adjust pace for the group that shows up that day. Bring hydration and a snack, we will take a short break at the park

Last Windsday was cloudy, cold and windy, yet 13 riders showed up to ride . Fearless leader Edgar had dental work that day so sent us off, and went home to recover. Ed Altwies took his group of four off on their high speed ride. The remaining 9 of us agreed to ride as a group and had a fantastic ride. We saved some power for the ride back into the wind. We wound up with a 19.1 for the loop. We were actually faster on the into the wind return, than we were going out.

Windsday does need help. Right now, we have Edgar leading our A group (21 and above), and Kelly Trame leading our C/D group (15-17) when she can. I’m filling in for a C/B 18-20) group through the end of May to get things started, but won’t be able to do it past that time. So we need a co-leader for C/D group a couple of people to lead the C/B group. Please seriously consider giving some time to club so we can continue to ride together.

Windsday starts promptly at 6:30 from Timberstone JHS, 9000 W Sylvania Ave, Sylvania, OH. See you there

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 10th

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10th, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County returns to Elmore. The ride is scheduled to depart Spoke Life Cycles at 6:30 pm. With a high temperature of 80 degrees for the day and sunny skies, it will be a fantastic ride! Quite a contrast to last week’s very rainy Tuesday!

Since mother nature did not provide great weather last week for opening day to start the 2022 season, here again are the groups departing and their leaders:

Regular ride leaders are returning for the 2022 season:

Scott Lang will be leading the Ghost Pepper Riders with a 22+ mph average.

Bob Kayden will take out the Cayenne Pepper Riders at 21 +/- mph.

Doug Kilpatrick(TAB President) will lead the Habaneros at 19 – 20+ mph

Todd Pollock will lead the Jalapeno Riders at 16 – 19 mph.

I plan to take out anyone who would like to ride a more casual pace at 14 – 16 mph.

Although there will be a slight southeast wind, it should otherwise be a great ride! Please join us!

It was another windy ride for Sara Lee, Tim Prand and Tim Book this past Sunday. If my memory serves me correctly it was a steady 18-20 mph out of the East. The worst of it was felt along Kellogg heading back to Tontogany with the wind blocks being few and far between.

Still only one of the four windmills were spinning. According to Alan Frischiman, that seems to be the norm but I try to make a mental note out of curiosity.

Tim Book questioned the safety of riding on Kellogg Road which Alan has as well. I appreciate the knowledge that other riders share so I'm considering making a change to the route by continuing north on Beaver Creek to Long Judson east, to north on Weston, to east on Scott Road into Tontogany to meet up with the route. This would avoid some bad pavement and the blind uphill on Wintergreen and then fast traffic on Kellogg. I'm not familiar with those roads so if anyone has experience in those areas, please share.

Other than that, keep the rubber side down.

TAB's Meandering Ride departs Whitehouse this final Saturday of April 2022 at 9a (we meet up just across from Cyclewerks). This week, we will ride "Jeff's Ride" which will be approximately 26-miles.  Plan on a ride average speed of 13-15mph, but as always we adjust pace and speed to the abilities of the group that shows up to ride. Roger and I hope you can join us this week!! Bring a snack and hydration, because we always make a pit stop. I promise to do my best to not break my bike this week!!
