63 degrees and partly cloudy and windy as usual. It was just me tonight to get some wind work in while averaging 16.2 mph rolling.

The wind turbines were silent tonight. Mild temps so no air conditioning created a need for extra power.

It was a steady 13 mph west wind but rode more like a northwest wind. I really appreciated the sun coming out because it got chilly at the end and it made for a beautiful evening.

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 17th recap

This past Tuesday, May 17th, saw thirty-seven cyclists come to Elmore for the Speedtrap Ride. The weather was favorable, with only light winds and a temperature of 70 degrees.

Scott Lang led the Ghost Pepper Riders and reported a 22.7 mph average

Bob Kayden reported 21.6 mph for his Cayenne Pepper Riders.

The Habanero riders rode to a 20.5 mph average as reported by Doug Metzger

The Jalapeno Riders, led by Todd Pollock, rode to a 16.6 mph average as reported by Kenneth Shaw.

Four other Sweet Pepper Riders and I rode out, and picked up a sixth rider along the way. Claude Watkins from the group reported 15.1 mph, about 2 mph faster than last week.

Most of the groups’ average were up from last week!

Pictured is regular Speedtrap Rider Candy Langoria, as he appeared June 18, 2019.

The next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride will take place this coming Tuesday, May 24th. The weather looks to be favorable with a temperature in the low 70s, and no precipitation. There will, however, be an easterly wind of 10 mph, making a slight headwind for the return trip to Elmore.

Sign-in for the Speedtrap Ride begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop, and we roll out at 6:30 pm. I hope to see you then!

Another addition of the Thursday 5'fer is upon us.  Our ride will depart Side Cut Park (Silver Lake Parking Lot) promptly at 6:30pm.  Please arrive in time to get your name on the sign-in sheets.

We have a small issue with this evening's ride.  River Road is closed between Jerome and Stitt roads this week for sewer repair.  We will have a slight deviation from the regular route.

    Starting from the park.

    1. River to Jerome (R)
    2. Jerome to Fallen Timbers LN (L)
    3. Fallen Timbers LN to Russell (L)
    4. Russel turns into Stitt to Black (R) and then we are back on the regular route

    Finishing the Ride

    1. Black Road to Stitt (L)
    2. Stitt turns into Russel to Fallen Timbers LN (R)
    3. Fallen Timbers LN to Jerome (R)
    4. Jerome to River (L) and finish the ride

I reconnoitered the route yesterday by car and it is definitely doable.  On the way out, turning right on to Jerome needs a bit of caution as there will be gravel on the turn.  Thus, approaching River Road on Jerome at the end of the ride will need the same caution.

I plan to be at the park early today and will recon again on my bike.  If you happen to arrive while I am reconnoitering and want to sign in, I'll leave the clipboards on my trunk.  See a white Ford Focus with a bike rack and a couple of TAB stickers on the fender.

Safety and communication will be paramount this evening.  I have every confidence with the tens of thousands of miles of experienced riders, we will be fine and have a great ride.

I look forward to seeing everyone this evening!

TAB's Meandering Ride will take us out to Liberty Center and back this week for a 32-mile jaunt that will depart Whitehouse (across from Cyclewerks) at 8:00a. Expect an overall ride average speed of 13-15mph, but we adjust the pace for the group who shows up each week. Bring hydration and a snack, however we will be taking our quick break just outside of Grandma's General Store so you could also purchase an alternative if you decide you're not really feeling what you packed. The local weather stations are forecasting rain, so keep an eye on this post as Roger and I will communicate and cancelation as close to an hour before the ride as possible.

    Good Day,

61 intrepid and excited riders showed up on a warm and breezy evening.  It was nothing short of a great start to the Thursday evening series.

We kept the rubber side down and all riders returned safely.  There were a couple of minor issues.  One flat reported from the Spicy Plus group.  All the elder statesmen of the group "advised" and "enlightened" a newer rider on the basics of a roadside tire repair.  There was also a wheel issue reported from "Spicy" group.

We did a good job of "taking care of our own" on this first night of the season.  Let's keep doing this for every ride this season.

Many thanks to our ride leaders and I look forward to many successful and safe rides this summer.

    Reported Speeds:

    Hot 1:  24.0

    Hot 2: 22.4

    Extra Spicy: 20.6

    Spicy Plus: 18.3

    Spicy: 16.4

    GLR: 14.4

    Regards,
