    Mighty Cyclists,

    Ride report from May 16.

Group 1 (Hot 1) rolled in with a 25.0 mph average.  The Hot 1 riders definitely had their Wheaties for breakfast.

Group 2 (Hot 2) reported a very nice average of 21.8 mph.

Group 3 (Hot 3) had an average of 21.1 mph and had the group from Hot 2 in their sites for most of the ride.

Group 4 (Xtra Spicy) reported an average of 20.3 mph

Group 5 (Spicy +) On this thankful Thursday, the group reported an average of 17.1 mph

Group 6 (Spicy) reported an average of 16.8 mph

Group 7 (GLR) reported an average of 14 mph

One safety issue reported from Group 2 (Hot 2).  As they were making a well signaled left turn, a driver chose to PASS ON THE LEFT!  A potentially very dangerous situation.  The riders at the back of the group communicated loud and well what was happening, and a potential disaster was avoided.  It is important when making turns, especially left turns, riders in the rear of the pacelines need to be aware and vigilant of traffic approaching from behind.

Windsday looks to live up its name this week. But good news! Winds are expected to DECREASE to 10-12 mph by ride time. And they’re out of the W, so we can work going out and cruise going home. It will help with the warm temps in the high 70s/low 80’s range.

Reminder - we have two groups. Edgar likes it fast at a 21+ pace. Old Man Dan likes it a bit slower in the 18-20 mph range. And we’d love to have a 16-18 group if only someone would let us know that they could help.

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 21st

The Speeddxtrap Ride will roll out again tomorrow at 6:30 pm from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio. The weather appears to be more favorable for riding than it has been. At ride time the temperature is predicted to be in the mid to upper 80s, with mostly cloudy skies, only a 15% chance of precipitation, and SSW winds at 10 mph. This should make for a nice return-to-Elmore portion of the ride,

Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders, with a riding average of 23+/- mph.          Are you up to the challenge!!

John Del Toro will take out his Cayenne Pepper Riders at a slightly   slower pace, 21 to 22 mph.

Ken South will lead the Habanero Riders and expects to average 20+/- mph

Ken Shaw is unavailable and Andy Gundlach is dealing with a sore knee, so a substitute leader will be needed for the Jalapeno Riders.

I plan to ride out with Sweet Pepper Riders, those who would like to ride at a more casual pace.

With warm temperatures and favorable winds, why not come out to Elmore and experience something different—riding on quiet country roads. You’ll ride with and meet some great people, too!

Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then.

Memorial Day Ride - 2nd call for ride leaders

Yes, ride leaders are needed for the Memorial Day Ride from Sidecut Park to Napoleon and back, The ride will not happen without ride leaders.

There will hopefully be three groups: a 20+ mph group, an 18 - 20 mph group, and 16 - 18 mph group. If you are willing to lead a group, please let me or any TAB board member know!

I will be providing SAG support, but I could use at least one other person to help.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 14th recap

The Speedtrap Ride brought twenty-two hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday evening to ride once again under threatening skies.

Scott Lang led the Ghost Pepper Riders and reported an average of 23 mph.

John Del Toro and Ken South led a combined Cayenne Pepper/ Habanero group.

John reported an average of 20.2 mph, while Ken reported 19.8 mph

Hubert Backes rode out with a few Jalapeno riders. No report from that group.

Candy Langoria, Ben Durant, and Marcy Skirvil formed the Sweet Pepper Riders. Ben reported an average of 15.2 mph.

But, all riders got soaked as the rain came down with 4 +/- miles left in the ride. Also Kathy Metzger had a flat with about 4 miles to go!

Pictured is first time Speedtrap rider Rick Holt, who has lived in the area in the past, but who is now visiting from Florida. Also pictured is Marcy Skirvil., who rode in her first OFFICIAL Speedtrap ride. Welcome to both!

The Speedtrap Ride will resume next Tuesday, May 21st. The long-range forecast calls for a high temperature in the low 80s, but with windy conditions, and once again a 50% chance of PM thunderstorms. I hope to see you then.

This Saturday, it’s north to Michigan! Start at Secor Park to head north to Ottawa Lake before turning west towards Blissfield for our rest stop. From there we’ll cruise along the River Raisin then down to Metamora and back to Secor for a 41 mile loop. Roads are better than you think, with one rough stretch to not disappoint you Michigan road haters out there. Weather looks good with 60 degrees at start time, and partly cloudy skies with low to moderate east winds.

Meet us this Saturday, at Secor Park, 8:00. As usual, it's 18-20 rolling speed, but we will adjust for the group. This is a no drop ride.
