Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 7th recap

With the threat and prediction of severe thunderstorms and a tornado watch, only seventeen hardy cyclists came to Elmore on Tuesday for the first official Speedtrap Ride of 2024.

The regular groups did not ride out as usual. Most riders were from the Ghost Pepper Group, and those that did ride left early to hopefully beat the rain. Riding averages from 21.5 to 22.5 mph were reported.

Hubert Backes and perhaps three others formed a slightly slower group. No report from that group.

All riders returned to Elmore safely and reported only a few drops of rain. No real severe weather passed through Elmore.

Pictured is Tim Michael’s Uncle Greg Smith, visiting from Alabama,  on his first Speedtrap Ride. Welcome Greg!

Doug Metzger provided the picture of yours truly! Thank you Doug!

After the ride, several gathered in the bike shop for a feast of pulled pork plus other treats, and to celebrate Nicole Reece’s birthday. Happy Birthday Nicole!

The next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride will take place this coming Tuesday, May 14th. The long-range forecast calls for rain, but we’ll have to wait and see!

    Perhaps I’ll see you then.
