Everyone’s favorite ride - the long awaited Friday Coffee Ride returns for 2019!  ;D

The forecast for Friday morning is looking better... the roads will be wet, but the chance of rain seems to be decreasing. Meet at CycleWerks in Whitehouse for a 9:00am departure. Let’s keep the loop short, 25-30 mi, and end up back in Whitehouse at Share Our Grounds. Rolling average for this ride is about 17mph. It’s no-drop, but participants should be able to maintain this pace for the duration.  **I will update by 8:00am if forecast changes and we have to cancel**

    Hello all,

Ride with GPS has an area ambassador program that highlights routes in different regions. I applied to become an ambassador and was accepted for the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan region. I have added three routes so far as a pilot. You can find the ambassador page here: https://ridewithgps.com/ambassadors/493-toledo-area-bicyclists

I would like to add our club routes to the ambassador directory, but I will need your help. Submissions require a vetted route, pictures, and a detailed description including highlights along the route. Please be sure to include who created the route so that I can credit the route creator.

If you have a route you would like to see added, please email details to me at toledogravelgrinder@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Nate

Dan Riley's Windsday™ went off with a bit of the expected wind but without a hitch. That signals the beginning of our summer schedule. We have rides every single day of the week with multiple groups in many of them to provide as many options as possible. Check the Club Rides tab for the schedule, location, and various groups. Also, with Spring weather you will want to check the Latest News tab before heading out. Welcome back weekday rides; how we have missed you!

I’m NOT canceling Windsday tonight, but I’m not wild about the conditions. Roads are still wet. We can decide what to do - ride, go for a beer - when we get there.

Welcome back to a new year of TAB evening rides! Come start your season with us this Wednesday. If the rains hold off, you’ll get to experience a classic Windsday challenge - temps in the low 70’s with 12-15 mph southwest winds.  We have a speed for most riders - Edgar with the Fast & Furious at 21+ mph avg, Jenifer with the Reasonably Fast at 19 mph avg, and Dan with the Reasonable & Reliable at a 17 mph avg.

And new this year, we’ve added one more group - the Relaxed ride with a 14-15 mph avg, led by new leader Rocky Roemer. I’m really excited about our new addition. If you wanted to join us but didn’t think you could keep up, now you can!

Meet us at Timberstone Jr High at 9000 W Sylvania Ave, Sylvania, OH 43560. We leave at 6:30 sharp so come early and ready to ride hard!  In case of a weather cancelation, I will post or email by 5:30. So if it looks iffy, check first before you come.

…in the wrong direction. The Adventurers had a true adventure Saturday. Even though it was cold, it was sunny and 11 riders came for the ride with Lindsay Rausch speeding through Secor Park to join us at the last minute. Turns out that there was an accident that closed 475, and 4 riders were caught in the shut down. With no idea when they could get there, we sadly had to leave them behind. But we invited 3 Plus 5 riders at Secor Park to join us.

We needed them, as the whole first half route to Blissfield was into the 10 mph northwest wind. As usual, the group worked well together, and we made slow but steady progress, arriving at the Blissfield Coney Island for breakfast. The owner greeted us with a smile and a hearty “You made it!”. The Plus 5 riders bade us farewell and travelled on.

As we settled in for breakfast, (which was delivered quickly), the four delayed riders (Larry and Diane Dunbar, Marty E and Joe Peltier) arrived after chasing us down to bring us up to fifteen riders. Our return route went smoothly. While we were hoping for a good tailwind, the wind started to shift just enough to make the group work. But we all arrived safely back at Secor Park. Consensus was it was a good route on good roads and we had a good ride.

Join Debbie next week at 8:00 at Mallard Lake in Oak Openings for a 40 mile cruise to Grand Rapids and back. We hope to see you there!
