    Mighty Cyclists,

Another Thursday evening ride is soon to start.  The last ride of June as we head in to a long July 4 holiday weekend.

Tonight's ride will be a warm one as the high is expected to be 90.  But don't worry, the humidity is predicted to be only 35%.   I guess this makes it a dry heat (hahah).  None the less, hydration will be key.  You should be hydrating now for the ride.  Bring extra liquids for you post ride re-hydration efforts.  With warm rides like this, be mindful of your own strengths and keep an eye on the riders around you.  We need to take care of each other on these group rides.

Winds are predicted to come from the SSW @ 9mph gusting to 21mph.  We'll work hard for the first half of the ride and then have some fun with the wind at our backs for the return leg.

We have a secondary alternate route.  I have presented to the individual group leaders and they will make a group by group decision whether to use the Trail option to avoid the construction on Weckerly/Monclova or the secondary route.  You can review/download the secondary route with the following link from Ride With GPS: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40014452

    Mighty Cyclists,

74 cyclists signed in on what was, so far, the most gorgeous evening we have had for a ride this season.  It was good to see some new faces and we also had some out of town visitors join our ride.  We had a gentleman from New Jersey ride in the Hot 2 group, and a gentleman from Atlanta join our Spicy plus group.  It was heartening to hear the positive feedback from these guys post ride.

All riders made it back safely and we walked, drove, road away knowing that we participated in another great ride.

    Reported speeds:

    Hot 1:            25.2

    Hot 2:            22.2

    Extra Spicy:  21.6

    Spicy Plus:    18.9

    Spicy:             16.1

    GLR:               14.1

Already looking forward to the next 5'fer.

    Regards,

    Joe "El Capitan" Peltier

The Old 24 Ride had perfect weather and a great group of riders. 9 of us headed out for 28.5 miles of fun. The group worked smoothly as we rotated with our double line. We really worked on only one side dropping at a time so that the group was never 4 wide. Safety first! As we headed east, pushing hard, we decided to go single file and pull shorter but harder. The last few miles were exciting and the group finished with 22.0 mph average.

Are you ready for a long holiday weekend? Are you ready to celebrate the 4th of July with your family and friends?  Are you ready to ride a metric century? Come join the annual TAB Freedom 100 on July 4th.  We meet at the Mallard lake shelter area in Oak Openings and we depart at 8 am for a ride thru the beautiful northwest Ohio countryside. There will be 2 groups, a hot group that will be rolling at 20 MPH and a slower group rolling at about 16 or 17 MPH.

We will be collecting donations to the Right Direction Youth Development program.  Check them out here https://therightdirection.org/

Here is the route for the ride.

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 28th

The Speedtrap Ride, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, will roll out once again from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore at 6:30 pm, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 28th. The weather forecast is for sunny skies, a temperature of 80 degrees, no chance of rain, and south winds at 5 mph.

Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders at a likely average of 22+ mph. Are you ready for the challenge?! Bob Kayden will lead the Cayenne Pepper Riders at a 21+ mph. Doug Kilpatrick will take out the Habanero Riders at 20+ mph.

Todd Pollock is still on active duty in the navy, so a substitute will be needed for the Jalapeno Riders. Because of an injury, I will probably not be riding out with the Sweet Pepper Riders for the group’s casual ride tomorrow night.

However, I will be in Elmore to sign riders in.  AND…We will have a pizza party after the ride, pizza from the Portage Inn in Elmore. I will be buying the pizza, so please let me know what kinds of pizza to order if you plan to join us after the ride.

Pictured is regular Speedtrap Rider—and half ironman veteran---Greg Hill, as he appeared June 1, 2021.

Please join us in Elmore for what appears to be ideal weather for the Speedtrap Ride. Ride some quiet country roads and meet some great people, too! Sign-in begins at 6:00 pm in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!

    Mighty cyclists,

The intersection of Weckerly and Monclova is closed for the next 45 days as a roundabout is being constructed.

We have a slight change to our route.

    • Monclova to Eber Road ( R )
    • Eber to the North Fork of the Cannonball bike path ( L )
    • Bike Path to Keener ( L )
    • Keener to Monclova ( R )
    • This puts us back on the regular route

We'll be taking this detour for the rest of the 2022 riding season.

Looking forward to tonight's ride.  You can still register on line:   https://toledo-area-bicyclists.ticketleap.com/thursday-5fer/
