The Meanderer's are rolling to Wauseon this Saturday, July 29th at 8a. Meet the group in Whitehouse (across from Cycle Werks) to sign in for the 41-mile route with a mid-ride rest stop at The Red Rambler. Bring hydration and a snack (and/or some $$ for a coffee & snack purchase) for the trip that will typically have an average speed of 13-15 mph, but adjusts rolling speeds for the abilities of the group that comes together that day. This is also our final ride during the month of July and that means post ride breakfast, if you can stay to join us. If there is any need to cancel due to weather it will be posted here by 7a, be sure to confirm before you head out. Hope you'll come out to ride bikes with us this weekend!!

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday July 25th recap

The Speedtrap Ride brought forty-four hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday for a great night of cycling.

Scott Lang led his Ghost Pepper Riders to a riding average of 22.7 mph.

However, the big news of the evening is that Bob Kayden led a combined Cayenne/Habanero group also to a 22.7 mph average , almost catching up to the Ghost Pepper Riders. Way to go riders!

David Barret (substituting for Todd Pollock on Navy duty) led nine Jalapeno Riders. All returned safely with an 18.8 mph average. Thank you David for leading.

At least thirteen Sweet Pepper Riders rode out together, They eventually separated into two groups. Erik Wineland from the faster group reported 16.1 mph.

I returned with four other riders. Although we were slow, we had a great ride.

Pictured together are Nicole Reece and Sally Usher, who, I am told, were fantastic riders playing a big part in the exceptional performance of the Cayenne/Habanero group. Way to go ladies! On a sad note, this is probably Sally Usher’s last appearance in the Speedtrap Ride as she is moving to North Carolina. Sally, we will miss you!

Also pictured is first-time Speedtrap Rider Chris Murray(with fiancé Kaylyn)

    Welcome Chris!

On another sad note, this was Habanero leader Doug Kilpatrick’s last appearance in the Speedtrap Ride, as he is moving to Alabama. Thank you Doug for leading and for all you’ve done for cycling in Northwest Ohio. We will miss you!

Please join us for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride, Tuesday, August 1st. The long-range weather forecast calls for a high of 83 degrees, partly cloudy skies with only a 14% chance of rain, and a SSW wind of 8 mph. I hope to see you then!

Bob Kayden and his Cayenne Pepper Riders will likely average 21 to 22 mph.

Last week it was 22! Will he be able to repeat that?

Doug Kilpatrick should be back to lead the Habanero Riders at 19 to 20+ mph.

David Barret will substitute for Todd Pollock(who is on military leave) to lead the Jalapeno Riders. Average will likely be 16 to 18+ mph.

The weather forecast is for mostly sunny skies, a high temperature of 85 degrees, a WSW wind of 5 mph, and no chance of precipitation,

Pictured is somewhat regular Speedtrap Rider, Sarah Lee, as she appeared August 9, 2022. Sarah is TAB’s new tech person.

Come out to Elmore, ride some quiet country roads, and meet some great people, too! Elmore is in Ottawa County, but it’s really no farther than Whitehouse from many parts of the Toledo metro area.

The Speedtrap Ride brought forty-one hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday for an almost perfect evening for riding. There was no precipitation, almost no wind, and a temperature in the upper 70s.

Scott Lang led the Ghost Pepper Riders and reported a 23.1 mph average.

Bob Kayden led a combined Cayenne Pepper/Habanero group and ode to a 22.0 mph average! Way to go Bob!

David Barret, substituting for Todd Pollock, led ten Jalapeno Riders. All returned together with a 19.2 mph average. Thank you David for leading.

Nine Sweet Pepper Riders rode out together. Erik Wineland from that group reported a 17.6 mph average.

A few riders went for a short ride on the North Coast inland Trail. They included Marnie Arndt, JoAnn Wegert, and Dan Waggoner. They called themselves the Carrot Riders.

Pictured are some Cayenne and Habanero Riders on the road. Thank you Bob Kayden for that photo.  Also pictured are some of the Carrot Riders. Thank you JoAnn Wegert for that photo.

There were two noteworthy events on the ride. Dave Stover rode his tandem with Nicole Reece, Ron Purk had a flat on SR 105 shortly after turning off of US23.

Shame on me for not getting a photo of either.

Please join us for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride. The long range weather forecast for next Tuesday, July 25th, calls for partly cloudy skies, a temperature of 85 degrees, a 24% chance of rain, and a WSW wind of 7 mph.

The Meanderer's are heading out for a Northern loop this Saturday, July 22nd rolling at 8a out of Whitehouse (across from CycleWerks). The route is 44-miles and will take us up through Secor Park then Metamora before starting the return to the South. Bring hydration and a snack to enjoy at our mid-route rest stop. The average speed for the whole route typically falls between 13-15 mph, so you can expect rolling speeds up to 18mph, but pace is always adjusted based on the abilities of the group that assembles.  Hope you can find some time in your weekend schedule to join us for another great ride around Northwest Ohio!
