TAB's Meandering Ride will be rolling South this week to Tontogany then over to Grand Rapids for a return to our starting point in Whitehouse (across from Cycle Werks). The group rolls out at 8a for the 36-mile route with a targeted ride average pace of 13-15mph, but we adjust the pace of the group based on who shows up for the ride. Roger Sweigart and I hope you can make it with hydration and snack to enjoy at out mid-point. It's the last Saturday in August too, so that means a group brunch/lunch after the ride!!

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday August 23^rd

          To all intrepid cyclists:

          The Speedtrap Ride, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, will roll out once again tomorrow, Tuesday, August 23^rd, at 6:30 pm from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio. The weather looks to be almost ideal for riding: a temperature in the upper 70s, little or no chance of rain, and a west wind of 3 mph.

          Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders on a 25-mile course. If you ride in his group, expect to average 22 – 23+ mph. Can you handle the adrenalin rush!

          Bob Kayden will take out his Cayenne Pepper Riders at 21 – 22+ mph over the same course.

          Doug Kilpatrick will lead the Habanero riders and he expects to average 20 – 21+ mph.

          The Jalapeno Riders will have a guest ride leader(Debra Lohr or Dan Willis) and will likely average 16 – 19 mph.

          Those who would like to ride at a more casual pace will form the Sweet Pepper Riders. Averages have varied from  14 – 16+ mph.

           

The sun will set at 8:20 pm, so slower riders especially should have lights on their bikes, not so much to see, but for others on the road to see you!

It will be vintage bike night! Get those vintage bikes out! Spoke Life Cycles will award a $25 voucher to the winner in each category: vintage original, vintage restored, and vintage with any changes/upgrades. It looks to be a fun night! So come out, ride some quiet country roads, and meet some great people, too! Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop! I hope to see you then!

TAB Monday Whitehouse ride for 8/22 will start across from Cycle Werks at 6:30. There will be 2 or 3 groups depending on how many show up. Groups will roll at 15-17, 18-20 and 20+. If there are not enough we will combine the 2 faster groups at 19-21. Hope to see you there.

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday August 16^th recap

          The Speedtrap Ride brought thirty-two intrepid cyclists to Elmore last night. Even though there was a mild easterly headwind for the return trip to Elmore, all reported having a fantastic ride.

          The Ghost Pepper Riders, Cayenne Pepper Riders, and Habanero Riders rode out as one group, but did not return that way.

          Scott Lang reported a riding average of 22.1 for his Ghost Pepper Riders.

          David St. Louis, guest leader for the Cayenne Pepper Group, reported 21.2 mph for his riders. Thank you David!

          Doug Kilpatrick reported 21.5 mph for his ride.

          Todd Pollock led six Jalapeno Riders to a 19.2 mph average.

          The Sweet Pepper Riders were many, but split up. Ben Durant, riding with Dave Stoiber and Kevin Konoff, reported 16.2 mph, while a second group came in much later with a roughly 14 mph average.

          The Triking Cherry Pepper Riders reported a pleasant but uneventful ride.

          There were six riders new to the Speedtrap Ride. They are pictured: Jill Simpson(orange jersey), Kevin Konoff(dark blue jersey); Jerry and Susan Ruffing;

Marty Lahey(light green jersey); and Jerry Woodland(dark green shirt). Welcome all to the Speedtrap Ride!

Who's ready for this Saturday's (Aug 20th) TAB Meandering Ride!?!?

We have been invited to join the Adventure Ride's TAB Style Tri (Bike, Swim, Eat) and think it'll be a lot of fun. Start location is a bit different this week (7640 Yawburg, Whitehouse), but if for some reason you forget we'll be swinging by Cyclewerks for the first leg of our journey out to see the flowers. Our route is about 36-miles for an overall average ride pace of 13-15mph, but we adjust based on that weeks capabilities. Don't forget your hydration, a snack for our mid-ride break, and a suit to take part in the swim portion of the day! Rick Metcalf is hosting and there's plenty of parking at his place.

          The Speedtrap Ride, one of America’s great Tuesday night rides, will roll out once again tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16^th, at 6:30 pm, from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio.

          Scott lang will be leading the Ghost Pepper Riders with a 22 – 23+ mph average. Are you prepared for the adrenalin rush!

          David St. Louis will be the guest and substitute leader for the Cayenne Pepper Riders with an average of 21 – 22+ mph. Thank you David!

          Doug Kilpatrick will take out his Habanero Riders and likely return with an average of 20+ mph.

          Todd Pollock will lead the Jalapeno Riders and will likely average 16 – 19 mph.

          All riders who would like to ride at a more casual pace will form the Sweet Pepper Riders and will likely average 15 – 16 mph.

          The weather prediction for tomorrow at ride time is sunny skies with a temperature in the mid 70s. However, there will be an ENE wind of 10 mph.

          Tomorrow is vintage jersey night. So get those old jerseys out and wear one tomorrow!

          The Speedtrap Ride takes riders out on quiet country roads with little vehicular traffic. If you have not done so, why not give the Speedtrap Ride a try, and see why it is the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County! You’ll meet some great people, too!
