The Meanderer's are rolling out of Whitehouse this Saturday, June 10th @ 8a for a 32-mile jaunt out to Liberty Center. Bring hydration and a snack (or some $$) for our mid-ride rest stop at Grandma's. Our average speed for the whole 32-miles will end up between 13-15mph, so you can expect some rolling speeds a bit faster than that, but we will adjust the speeds for the abilities of the people who show up to ride bikes with us!! Hope to see you this Saturday!

Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 6th recap

The Speedtrap Ride, the best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, brought forty-one hardy cyclists to Elmore last night.

Scott Lang led a group of nine Ghost Pepper Riders and reported a 23.3 mph average.

Bob Kayden  and his five Cayenne Pepper Riders rode to a 21.7 mph average.

Doug Kilpatrick reported 21.0 mph for his Habanero Riders.

David Barret, substituting for Todd Pollock, started out with eleven, but ended with eight, Jalapeno riders, and returned to Elmore with an average of 16.9 mph.

    Thank you David.

I rode out with at least six other Sweet Pepper Riders. Kevin Konoff from that group reported 16.2 mph for a riding average.

There was a mild headwind for most of the return ride to Elmore, but not as bad as last week’s headwind, and not as bad as was predicted.

After the ride, several gathered in front of the bike shop to celebrate Scott Lang’s birthday. He is pictured in the kitten jersey, a Flatlanders’ tradition!

Thank you Kathy Metzger for the watermelon cake!

The next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride will take place next Tuesday, June 13th, at 6:30 pm from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore. However, the long-range weather forecast calls for a high of 71 degrees, a 40% chance of showers, and a west wind of 17 mph. Hopefully that forecast will improve as we approach next Tuesday. I hope to see you then.

    Mighty Cyclists,

Last Thursday on 6/1 we had 70 Mighty cyclists show up for the warm weather and the challenging East winds.

Group 1 (Hot1): Phil Carroll stepped in as ride leader in the absence of Ben Groves who was out of the country on holiday.  Phil reported the front runners of the group reported a 25.1 average.  I would call that smoking aces hot.  Phil and 3 others got gapped and finished a bit later than the extremely hot riders.

Group 2 (Hot2): Tim Eckel and his crew must have heard the sonic boom from Hot 1 and they came in at a blistering 22.7 average.

Group 3 (Xtra Spicy): Doug Kilpatrick and his Thursday night warriors were out to conquer the world and came in with a 21-mph average.

Group 4 (Bold Picante): Traci Bash led her hot pepper riders to another 20.2 mph average.  Consistency is the key here.

Group 5 (Spicy+): Keith Meredith led the Spicy plus contingent to a nice 18.1 mph average.

Group 6 (Spicy):  Dave and Mark led crew of 13 riders on the course with 3 new additions.  No issues reported as they coach, teach and ride.

Group 7 (GLR):   John Galdeen reported a nice 14.5 mph average on a 14.5-mile course.

No issues reported.  All riders made it back safely.  The post ride mood was spirited and excited.  It is heartening to see the groups gel, leaders rise, and the teachers teach.

Our next ride is Thursday, 6/8/23.  The weather is looking to be pretty close to perfect with a start time temp of 73 and no rain.  Winds will be out of the East AGAIN at 13 mph and gusting to 19 mph.  The ride out will be fun and fast.  The ride in will be made of suffering and hard work.

The Toledo Blade is sending a reporter out to the ride.  So, if you can, wear your club jerseys!  TAB, MVW, Flatlanders etc.  This ride is sponsored by TAB but all are always welcome.

It’s official, Traci’s Bold Picante group is now part of the 5’fer family.  Please pay close attention to the group numbers below.

Please use the online sign-up option for the ride and avoid the clipboards!!  The link is below

    Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 6th

The best Tuesday night ride out of Ottawa County, the Speedtrap Eide, will roll out once again tomorrow, Tuesday, June 6th, at 6:30 pm, from Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio.

Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders. If you ride with his group, expect to average 22 – 23+ mph. Are you up to the challenge!

Bob Kayden will once again take out his Cayenne Pepper Riders, averaging 20 – 21+ mph.

Doug Kilpatrick will lead a group of Habanero Riders at 19 – 20+ mph.

David Justin Barret, filling in for Todd Pollock, will lead the Jalapeno Riders, averaging anywhere from 16 – 19 mph.

I will be on hand for the Sweet Pepper Riders, whose averages last week were around 16 mph.

The temperature at ride time is predicted to be 75 degrees, with partly cloudy skies. There will,  however, be a NE wind of 13 mph, producing a moderate headwind for most of the return-to-Elmore portion of the ride.

Pictured is substitute ride leader, MARR co-director for TAB, and Spicy ride leader for Thursday’s 5fer ride, David Barret,  as he appeared July 26, 2022.

Come out to Elmore and experience something truly different. Ride some quiet country roads and meet some great people, too! Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!
