posted May 7, 2013, 7:04 AM by TAB Webmaster

TAB members and beyond,

Attached is the May-June 2013 edition of the TAB newsletter, The Seatpost.   This new issue of the TAB newsletter is being sent to the email address you supplied with your membership form.  Please find the link to download below.

We had some fantastic contributions to this issue.

  • Our members are going to enjoy all the research that Rick Rump put into the first article, “33 Years of Group Cycling.”  I know I learned so much about our club’s history and the early members.  And I can’t wait for the second part on the early years of MARR.
  • Nancy Beeman contributed a wonderful write up and photos of her participation in the Cinderella Classic out in California.
  • Hugh & Connie Benning have created a great flyer to advertise our Memorial 100 ride to benefit Wounded Warriors.
  • Brian Gribble has organized an Intro to Cycling Clinic series to introduce members to riding safely in groups.
  • Keith Webb is again organizing Toledo’s Ride of Silence - please mark May 15th on your calendar and show your support.
  • Rick Metcalf provided a summary of the Winter Ride series - congratulations to Allen Kraus!
  • I’m especially pleased that Ryan Wood (of and Coach John Hughes ( agreed to let me feature John's article (first in three part series) about riding long rides.  Many of our members are looking for new challenges.  I’ve heard a number of people who are planning to ride RAIN or another long ride this year.  So I’m so happy to have an expert like John providing our members with advice.

There’s also almost four pages of upcoming events, articles about a new randonneuring group in Detroit, Dinner & Bike nights throughout the southeast MI/northern OH area, Bike-to-the-Bay information, board meeting notes, and your President’s column.

I want to warmly thank Rick Rump, Nancy Beeman, Hugh & Connie Benning, Brian Gribble, Keith Webb, Rick Metcalf, Coach John Hughes, and Mark Beeman for their hard work to contribute articles.  A special note of thanks for Rick, Nancy and Keith for also proofreading this issue.  Please consider adding your name to this list by contributing an article or photo to our next issue.

The next issue of The Seatpost will be out at the end of June  with a submission deadline of June 21st.
