I think we have figured out what works on TAB rides. Club rides have become so enjoyable. Leaders organize their groups, everyone cooperates. We ride two by two, not all over the road. Those who are pulling know to signal and come off the front, and riders know not to come up from the back. The front riders know to allow enough time for the rest of the pack to get through traffic lights or stop signs and to ride slower until the rest catch up, so there is little temptation to push through without looking.

I think we’ve got it.

Congratulations to all who rode Bike to the Bay. I’ve heard stories of exhausted riders on Sunday, beaten up by humidity, head winds, and cross winds. Glad you all made it back! And good luck to all of you with charity rides yet to come. Someday I’d like to figure out how much money TAB riders raise for good causes.

Thanks to Rick Metcalf for organizing the Freedom Ride, and to Kelli Routsong and her friend, Chef Paul, for the picnic lunch. Everyone’s contributions will help fund Evelyn Billings’ college fund, and years from now let her know her dad had many friends.
