TAB Banquet Celebrating the 2015 Cycling Season
Sunday January 31, 2016

This is a chance to get together in the off-season, see old friends and recap the adventures of last year's riding. We will award Rider of the Year, Most Improved Rider, and Volunteer of the Year to your peers, and meet the new Board Members.

Our guest speaker is Dave Zenk, Deputy Director at Metroparks.  It’s a new era for Metroparks, with a comprehensive strategic plan guiding the way for the next 20 years. In 2015, three new parks opened – the first new Metroparks in 40 years. Middlegrounds, now under construction, will open this year in downtown Toledo. And Howard Marsh – a 1,000 acres in Jerusalem Township – is just getting underway.

And that’s only a start. An extension of the Wabash Cannonball Trail was just completed, and work will begin soon on the Metroparks portion of the new Chessie Circle Trail.

More parks, more trails, more connectivity are in the future. When the plan is completed, every resident in Lucas County will live within 5 minutes of a Metropark.

As deputy director of Metroparks of the Toledo Area, Dave Zenk oversees new park development, park operations, an expansion of programming and more.

Dave, a resident of Whitehouse, joined Metroparks in 2004 as the supervisor at Wildwood Preserve. A graduate of The Ohio State University and Bowling Green State university he was previously self employed as a planner and has a background in landscape ecology. He has spent the last 10 years focused on local conservation initiatives and regional planning.
